Eileen Amanda Robertson, 89, of Eau Claire, peacefully passed away on November 10, 2012, at her home with her family by her side. She was born on December 19, 1922, in the Town of Wheaton, Chippewa County, a daughter of Ingvald and Amanda (Solberg) Larson. Eileen graduated from Eau Claire High School with the class of 1940. In 1942 she moved to Seattle, WA to help with the war effort, serving as a pipefitter's assistant in the Lake Washington Kirkland Shipyards and later at the Federal Reserve Bank in Seattle. Eileen married Thomas Robertson on June 7, 1947 in Eau Claire, and together they had five children. While raising their family, Eileen also worked as a banquet waitress at the Hotel Eau Claire and later at H.C. Prange Co. Eileen was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She always made family celebrations and holidays memorable. Her quilts still warm her family. Eileen is survived by her husband of 65 years, Tom; five children, Kathleen Robertson of Eau Claire, Jane (Jerry) Johnson of Eau Claire, Steve (Ann) Robertson of Gilbert, AZ, John (Maureen) Robertson of Eau Claire, and Sally (Ed) Nicholson of Eau Claire; thirteen grandchildren, Amanda, Amy, Tim, Melanie, Sara, Andrew, Emily, Joey, Lindsay, Caitlan, Meghan, Alex, and Katie; seven great-grandchildren, Kailyn, Emalee, Kyle, Macie, Zachary, Nicholas, and Grace; many nieces and nephews. Eileen was preceded in death by her parents, Amanda O. (Solberg) and Ingvald B. Larson; four sisters, Bertha McFaul, Anna Jevne, Eleanor Lima, and Lorraine Hanson; three brothers Lars Larson, Irving Larson, and Obert Larson. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, November 14, 2012, at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, with Reverend Michael Rehak officiating. Burial will follow at Lake View Cemetery in Eau Claire. Friends and family may visit from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at Lenmark Gomsrud Funeral Home, 814 First Ave. in Eau Claire, and one hour prior to the service at First Lutheran Church. The family would like to thank Northwest Hospice, Dr. Attermeier and staff, as well as the staff and residents of Oakwood Hills Retirement Community for their many kindnesses and concern. Memorials may be given to First Lutheran Church Foundation or Quilters, or Mayo Northwest Hospice.
