Elaine Marie Goebel, 89, of Eau Claire, died Tuesday, August 28, 2018, at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire. She was born in Eau Claire, on February 4, 1929, a daughter of Charles and Agnes (Rezner) Goebel. Elaine grew up in Eau Claire, attended Sacred Heart Parish School and graduated from St. Patrick's Catholic School with the Class of 1947. After high school, she attended St. Francis School of Nursing in LaCrosse, WI, graduating with the Class of 1950. Elaine worked as a Registered Nurse for Sacred Heart Hospital, Putnam Heights Clinic, and Clairemont Nursing Home, for a total of 40 years. Elaine was a life time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Ann's Society and also sang in the Church Choir for many years. Elaine was also a member of the Eau Claire Art League for 25 years and truly enjoyed painting with her Art League Associates and going to Art Shows. Elaine enjoyed traveling and spent many happy vacations touring the U.S. and Europe. Her happiest memories were vacationing in Washington D.C. visiting her sister, and also visiting in the Pacific Northwest with her brother and sister-in-law, nieces and nephews. Elaine was an avid reader, particularly liked historic novels, especially about the Civil War. Elaine is survived by her sister, Catherine Goebel of Eau Claire; and brother, Paul Goebel of Gig Harbor, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Dolores Goebel. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 7, 2018, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 416 N. Dewey St. in Eau Claire, with Father Brian Jazdzewski officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass at the church. Inurnment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Eau Claire.
