Elaine Mildred Loechler, 91, formerly of Elk Mound, WI, died Monday, March 14, 2016, at Comforts of Home in Menomonie, WI. She was born in Eau Claire on August 7, 1924, a daughter of Oscar and Blanche (Wagnild) Amundson. Elaine married Nicholas H. Loechler on October 15, 1955, in Spring Brook at Spring Brook Lutheran Church. She was a homemaker who loved gardening and flowers – growing the most fragrant roses, spending time with her children and grandchildren, sewing, baking, picking wild berries, and feeding the birds. Elaine took pride in her Norwegian heritage, making lefsa quite often, enjoyed Sunday afternoon fishing after church, and attending the Minnesota State Fair. She worked at Shopko for over 25 years. Elaine was a member of Spring Brook Lutheran Church where she volunteered as a Sunday School and Bible School teacher, the American Legion Axillary, and Dunn County Homemakers. Elaine is survived by her daughter, Ann (Bob White) Loechler; son, David (Carolyn) Loechler; four grandchildren, Matthew (Bechorah) Loechler, Theresa Loechler, Christina Loechler, Nicholas Loechler; 1 great grandchild, Angelina; brother-in-law, Elmer (Marilyn) Loechler; sister-in-law, Sylvia Amundson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sisters, Sylvia (Phillip) Sneen; Idella (Jack) Bruness; and brother, Norman Amundson.
