Elaine Mikesell (Fletty), 85, of Eau Claire was called home to God on Saturday, October 15, 2011, at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona, WI. She was born on January 15, 1926, in Eau Claire to Waldemar and Mildred (Freid) Fletty. She attended and graduated from Eau Claire High School. Elaine married the love of her life, Ken Mikesell on April 24, 1943. They traveled all over the country together and spent 23 fun-filled years traveling to their winter home in Winter Haven, Florida. After 64 wonderful years together, Ken passed away in 2007. Elaine's greatest joy was her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, "her babies". She and her family spent many, many summer weekends at their cottage in Chetek, where she was known for her Sunday fish fries. Elaine will be remembered for her skills as a baker, ceramic artist and seamstress. She also volunteered many hours at Sacred Heart Hospital for the Ladies Auxiliary. Elaine is survived by one son, Jerry (Kitty) Mikesell of Chino, CA; one daughter Judy (Michael) Paus of Winter Haven, FL; four loving grandchildren, Craig (Shelly) Holbrook, Travis (Kirsten) Holbrook, Amber (Mark) Fusca, and Samantha Mikesell; two step-grandchildren, Jessica Paus and Amanda Paus; five great-grandchildren, Brandon, Justin and Holly Holbrook, and Hayden and Logan Fusca; one brother, Tom Fletty; one sister, Shirley (Les) Weichel; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; and her parents. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd., in Eau Claire at 11am with Pastor James Page officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery, Eau Claire. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2011, from 4-7pm at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., and again one hour prior to the services at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be donated to the Eau Claire Fire Fighters Local 487 Honor Guard, 217 S. Dewey St., Eau Claire, WI 54701.
