Obituary

Elaine A. Overman, 83, formerly of 1434 Highland Ave., Eau Claire, died Friday, November 9, 2001 at Oakwood Villa Nursing Home in Altoona. She was born on December 30, 1917 in Boyd, Wisconsin to John and Mary (Roith) Zwiefelhofer. Elaine graduated from Boyd High School. \r\nShe enlisted in the Women's Army Air Corps in February 1943 and was honorably discharged on December 4, 1945.\r\nElaine married Donald T. Overman on July 22, 1947 in Boyd, Wisconsin at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She then attended Beauty School in Eau Claire.\r\nShe was employed as a seamstress at Gustin's Cleaners for many years and after retiring there, helped Donald at his sport shop, Don's Go Get-Em, until his retirement in 1983. She sewed for many people over the years at her home.\r\nElaine was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish for more than fifty years, and was a member of many veterans' organizations including VFW Post #305, American Legion Post #53 and the D.A.V.\r\nSurvivors include, two daughters, Mary (Tor Garborg) Overman of Altoona and Deborah (David) Drung of Eau Claire; three grandchildren, Kristina (Todd) Van Riper, Deanna Drung and Daniel Drung; two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Kailey Van Riper; three sisters, Claudia Ryba of Boyd, Delores (Emil) Ripienski and Jeanette Overman both of Chippewa Falls; two brothers, Jack (Marcy) Zwielfelhofer of Boyd and Bernard (Mary) Zwiefelhofer of Mequon; sister-in-law, Claudette Overman of Gary, IN, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald in 1994; and her mother and father-in-law, Bernard and Pearl Overman.\r\nMass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 13, 2001 at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Eugene A. Klink officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Boyd. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, November 12, 2001 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home where there will be a 7 p.m. Public Prayer Service. There will be a Veteran's Service at 6:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. American Legion Post #53 will conduct military honor rites at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to Immaculate Conception Church.
