Obituary

Elaine A. Welter, 87, of Eau Claire died Thursday, October 26, 2006, at Luther Hospital. She was born in Kaukauna, WI on April 12, 1919, the daughter of Michael and Eleanor (Berken) Milton. She attended Holy Cross Grade School and Kaukauna High School. In 1938 Elaine moved to Eau Claire where she worked at Pearson's Café through 1941. She later worked at Randall's Super Value from 1962 to 1983.\r\nElaine married Robert A. Welter on March 2, 1940, at St. Patrick's in Eau Claire.\r\nShe was a charter member of St. James the Greater parish and a member of PCCW. She was also a member of Eau Claire Women of the Moose Chapter #557 for many years.\r\nElaine was an avid Packer fan, loved bingo, and scratch offs. She was very patriotic, proud of her Irish heritage, and most of all her family.\r\nElaine is survived by her husband, Robert; two daughters, Nancy Hietpas and the late Nicholas Hietpas of Little Chute and Barbara (Warren) Swenson of Woodbury, MN; her son, Michael (Joyce) Welter of Mondovi; eight grandchildren, Robert (Mary) Hietpas of Little Chute, Susan (Craig) Andersen of Billings, MT, Karen (Travis) Rohrer of Madison, Kim (Efren) Perez of Madison, Tanya (Jason) Kistner of Colfax, Erin Swenson of Cottage Grove, MN, Emily (Dustin) Vogelgesang of Woodbury, MN, and Amanda Welter of Eau Claire; Thirteen great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Scott, Tony, and Amy Hietpas, Lexi and Tyler Andersen, Brett Hietpas, Ryan, Carlos, and Efren Perez III, Frederick Rohrer, Brock Kistner; and baby Perez coming Oct. 31st; four Godchildren, James Welter, Clay Wildenberg, Orie Milton, and Robert A. Hietpas; her brother, Michael (Patricia) Milton of Appleton; sister, Ethel (Louis) Wulterkens of Appleton; six sisters-in-law, Bernadette (Norman) Peterson of Eau Claire, Ione Milton, Harriet Milton Thurner, June Simon, Betty Welter, and Lucille Welter; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.\r\nElaine was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Gladys (John) Diedrich and Eileen (Walter) Wildenberg; three brothers, Orile, Donald, and Cletus Milton; two nephews, Danny and Patrick Milton; parents-in-law, Edward and Nettie Welter; three brothers-in-law, Edward (Katherine) Welter, Donald Welter, and Duane Welter.\r\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, October 30, 2006, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, Eau Claire with Father John A. Schultz officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, Eau Claire and one hour prior to services Monday at the church. There will be 6 p.m. public Prayer Service Sunday at the funeral home.\r\nIn lieu of flowers a memorial fund will be established.\r\n \r\n\r\n
