Elaine M. Wickland, 78, of Eau Claire, died Tuesday, November 17, 2009, at Orchard Hills Assisted Living in Eau Claire under the care of Northwest Hospice.\r\nElaine was born on February 4, 1931, in Eau Claire the daughter of Emma (Klopp) Garnett.\r\nElaine married John "Jack" R. Wickland in Eau Claire on August 10, 1952. He passed away March 11, 2003.\r\nShe worked along side her husband, John, at Shoppers Market in Eau Claire for 12 years. A large part of Elaine's life was spent raising her four children. \r\nAmong her favorite hobbies were crocheting, ceramics, crafts, games, and doing anything possible as a family on Sunday's. She enjoyed taking care of her home, and also her yard and garden. Elaine was a consummate cook and baker.\r\nShe was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Elaine was a volunteer at Lincoln Elementary School in Eau Claire while her children attended. For many years she was the "cookie queen" for the Campfire Girls. While caring for her children, she also took the time to care for other family members. Above all her grandchildren were her pride and joy.\r\nElaine is survived by four children, Rick (Mary Jo) and their children, Aaron (Mallory), Andrew and Adam Wickland, Tom (Kathleen) and their children, Anne and Alec Wickland, Jane (David) Grosvold and their children, Eric and Ryan Grosvold, John (Christine) and their children, Alexa and Aiden; two sisters, Francis Reed of Eau Claire and Beverly Boettcher of Eau Claire; and a brother, Roger Garnett of Eau Claire; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her mother, Emma; her husband, John; two brothers, Jack and William; and a sister, Winifred Winrich.\r\nFuneral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, November 20, 2009, at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor David K. Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Friday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral&Cremation Services is serving the family.\r\nThe family would like to thank the caring staff at Orchard Hills Assisted Living for the wonderful care and loving attention given to Elaine for the past five years.
