Obituary

Eleanor E. Lekvin, 95, of Eau Claire passed away at Syverson Lutheran Home on Monday, March 24, 2008.\r\nShe was born on December 13, 1912, in Chetek, WI to Frank and Grace (Bailkey) Carey, one of five children. After graduation from Chetek High School, she attended and graduated from Barron County Normal School.\r\nIn August 1931, Eleanor married Thomas Lekvin and moved to Chippewa Falls. They lived there for several years until Tom's employment took them to Chicago for four years. In November 1942, they returned to Wisconsin. She has lived in Eau Claire since then, raising six children. \r\nEleanor was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Eau Claire. Among her activities there were teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir, and Sarah Circle. She was a loving, wonderful mother and homemaker and enjoyed family gatherings, many of which were at her home. Each spring she found great joy in planting flowers to beautify her yard.\r\nEleanor is survived by her six children, Jacklyn Borthwick of Alexandria, VA, Jane Welke of Green Lake, WI, Tim (Donna) Lekvin of Altoona, Zoe McAllen of Eau Claire, Pat (Janice) Lekvin of Eau Claire, and Dr. Brent (Kathy) Lekvin of Houghton, MI; fifteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Frances Everson of Bloomington, MN, and Belle Blair of Oakland, CA; a sister-in-law, Irene Carey of Eau Claire; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Tom, in 1988.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church in Eau Claire with Pastor Debra Boynton officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery in Chippewa Falls. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Friday at the church.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to First Presbyterian Church, 2112 Rudolph Rd., Eau Claire, WI 54701.\r\n
