Eleanora A. Martinson, 92, of Eau Claire died peacefully Friday, November 2, 2007, at Sacred Heart Hospital. She was born on September 12, 1915, in Turtle Lake, Wisconsin, the daughter of Anton and Anna (Wickboldt) Schmidt. She graduated from Turtle Lake High School at the age of 16 with the class of 1931, and then attended business school in Minneapolis.\r\nEleanora was a bookkeeper for Ford Motor Company, and later for Hagen Decorating in Eau Claire.\r\nShe met her husband, Rienhart H. "Marty" Martinson at the Ford Motor Company in Eau Claire, where they both worked. They were married on May 4, 1946, in Turtle Lake at the home of her parents.\r\nShe enjoyed playing cards, watching sports, and was an avid reader.\r\nShe was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, where she taught Sunday school, was a member of the Ladies Aid and Church Circle, and served as treasurer for many years for the church and preschool.\r\nEleanora happily spent the last two years of her life as a resident of Heatherwood Assisted Living where she had many friends, including the staff.\r\nEleanora is survived by her son, Dave Martinson of Mission, TX and Salida, CO; daughter, Pam (Dennis) Christopherson of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Chad and Jon Christopherson, Sara (Joe) Harris, Heidi (Aaron) Cade and Todd Martinson; one great grandson, Jordan Joseph Harris and a great granddaughter on the way; a sister-in-law, Mildred Schmidt; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Marty in 2003; and two brothers, William and Herbert Schmidt.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 5, 2007, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Carlton Kangas officiating. Burial will be at the Rest Haven Cemetery in the Town of Washington. Friends may call one hour prior to services Monday at the church.
