Ella L. Gilgan, 78, of 744 Bolles St. died Monday, March 31, 1997 at Dove Health Care Center. She was born December 19, 1918 in Colfax to Helmer and Maude (Knowlton) Hanson. Ella graduated form Colfax High School with the class of 1936. On September 4, 1938 she married Claire O. "Dutch" Gilgan in Eau Claire where they raised their family. Ella worked at several Eau Claire businesses throughout the years including F.W. Woolworth where she was a baker. She was a former member of Eau Claire Moose Lodge #1408. \r\nSurvivors include two daughters, Sharon Heller and Kay (Darryl) Broten both of Eau Claire; five grandchildren, Brian (Kim) Heller, Kirk Broten, Todd Lee, Michelle (Brett) Olson and Ella Gorton; three great-grandchildren, Josh Heller, Matthew and Mikayla Olson all of Eau Claire; a brother, Victor (Alvilda) Hanson of Kenosha; two sisters, Hazel Hubbard and Helen (Don) Everson both of Eau Claire; two brothers-in-law, Don Gilgan of Victor,Mt and Joe Schneider of Eau Claire; three sisters-in-law, Rosetta (Bob) Walker of Chetek, Leah Gilgan of Rockford,IL and Dorothy Hanson of Eau Claire; many nieces, nephews and fiancee, Roger Rast.\r\nElla was preceded in death by her husband, Claire; a daughter, Judy Thalacker: her parents; two brothers, Harold and Charles; two sisters, Lillian Schneider and June Geschel: five brothers-in-law Harold Gilgan, Roland Geschel, James Hubbard, Arthur Sorenson and Earl Cornelius; and a sister-in-law, Mary Gilgan.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Epiphany Lutheran Church with Pastor Brent L. Parrish officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery,Town of Washington. Friends may call one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home is serving the family.
