Ella S. Mahla, 91, formerly of Elk Mound, died Tuesday, July 23, 1996 at St. Marks Lutheran Home in Austin, MN. She was born March 19, 1905 in Elk Mound to Martin and Julia (Olson) Rhude. Ella married Paul G. Mahla at Big Elk Creek Lutheran Church on August 3, 1929. They farmed in the Elk Mound Area.She was church organist at Barum Lutheran Church for forty-five years. Following Paul's death in 1985, Ella lived in Colfax and Eau Claire until moving to Austin in 1988.\r\nSurvivors include a son, Les (Carmen) Mahla of Austin, MN; a granddaughter, Rachelle (Peter) Benson of Shakopee, MN; a grandson, Ronson of Wheeling, IL; a brother, Juel Rhude of Elk Mound; many nieces and nephews.\r\nElla was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Goodwin Paul; seven brothers and one sister. \r\nFuneral Services will be at 2 P.M. Saturday at Barum Lutheran Church, Town of Elk Mound with Pastor Omar C. Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 8 P.M. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
