Ellen Victoria Anderson Wicklund, 99, Syverson Lutheran Home, died on Wednesday, June 13, 2001, at the Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. \r\nShe was born August 20, 1901 in Eau Claire, (Shawtown) Wisconsin to Charles and Anna Anderson. She was the fourth oldest of seven children. She graduated from Eau Claire High School, completed and received a Diploma from the Primary Teacher Training Program at Eau Claire Normal School. In the fall of 1920, she began teaching at the primary level in Stanley, Wisconsin at the age of 19. She later taught at the primary level in Waukegan, Illinois, served as an editor and society page reporter for the Fort Atkinson News, and later held clerical and accounting positions in Chicago.\r\nEllen was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire for more than 35 years. She was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Eau Claire. She was active for more than 20 years in the Women's group and other congregational activities at Grace Lutheran Church, Chicago.\r\nOn October 18, 1930, Ellen was united in marriage to Verner Frederick Wicklund, a native of Superior, Wisconsin, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Eau Claire. She shared many happy years with him, living in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, Chicago, Illinois, and retiring in 1966, returning to Eau Claire.\r\nEllen is survived by her son, Dr. Lee A. Wicklund in Racine, Wisconsin, her daughter-in-law, Georganne, two grandsons, Eric Trumbull Wicklund and Dr. Lance Frederick Wicklund, granddaughter-in-law, Beth D. Wicklund and great-grandson, Brad D. Wicklund, all in the Portland, Oregon area.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Verner, who passed on to eternal life on February 20, 1983; her parents; four brothers, Al, Victor, John, and Arthur; and two sisters, Pauline and Lillian.\r\nFuneral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 15, 2001, at Grace Lutheran Church Chapel, with Pastor Andrew Boe officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.\r\nHer family, in lieu of flowers, suggests memorials to Grace Lutheran Foundation, Eau Claire, WI.
