Elmer A. Brownell, 89, of Eau Claire died Thursday, May 20, 2004 at Oakwood Villa in Altoona. He was born in the town of Drammen, rural Mondovi, Wisconsin on December 14, 1914 to Roy and Iva (Lorenz) Brownell. He graduated from Mondovi High School in 1934. Elmer married Dagny Wang on December 4, 1937 at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. He was a tire builder at Uniroyal for 37 years, retiring in 1976.\r\nSurvivors include his two daughters, Karen Marten of Moundville, AL, and Janet (Fred) Cotton of Zephyrhills, FL; five grandchildren, Douglas (Ann) Cotton of Tulsa, OK, Diane (David) Hofstadter of Circle Pines, MN, Tammi Crogg of Eau Claire, Lynn Knudson of Eau Claire, and Eric Marten of Gilman; six great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and two brothers-in-law, Lester Flaten of Eau Claire and Newell Pettis of Altoona; a sister-in-law, Emma Brownell of Eau Claire; and many cousins.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dagny in 2003, and his brother, Earl Brownell.\r\nFuneral services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2004 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Pastor Paul D.L. Oppedahl officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview cemetery. Family and friends may call an hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home. \r\nFamily requests that memorials please be directed to Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd.
