Obituary

Elmer C. Felton, 84, of Altoona, WI, died peacefully Wednesday, December 2, 2015, surrounded by his family. Elmer was born in Eau Claire on December 29, 1931, a son of Harry Anderson and Lillian (Nelson) Felton. Elmer was formally adopted by Harold and Lillian Felton after the early passing of Harry Anderson in 1934. Elmer served in the U.S. Air Force from April 1951 until his honorable discharge in July 1955. Elmer married Ann L. Schrieber in Eau Claire on September 23, 1955. Elmer worked for Weyerhaeuser Company, retiring after 30 years of services. Elmer enjoyed spending time at the cabin with family and friends and amusing his audience with Ole and Lena jokes was a favorite pastime for him. A great husband, father and grandfather, Elmer will be deeply missed by all. Prior to retirement, Elmer was active in various civic and fraternal organizations in Austin, MN. Elmer was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Elmer is survived by his wife, Ann; two sons, Jeffrey (Susan) Felton of Eagan, MN and Michael Felton of Chippewa Falls, WI; two daughters, Julie (Thomas) Stephens of Rice Lake, WI, and Laurie (Stephen) Herder of Mound, MN; four grandsons, Zachary, Andrew, Joseph and Charles; four granddaughters, Mackenzie, Michelle, Katie and Elizabeth; four great-grandchildren; sister, Lola Johnson of Eau Claire; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Harriet Leipnitz, and two brothers, Charles Felton and Harold Anderson. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1314 E. Lexington Blvd. in Eau Claire, with Pastor James Page officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Inurnment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery Columbarium in Eau Claire with military rites conducted by American Legion Post 53. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral & Cremation Services is serving his family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Chippewa Valley History Museum, 1204 East Half Moon Drive, Eau Claire, WI 54703 or Veterans Housing Recovery Program, 2820 E. Park Avenue, Chippewa Falls, WI 54729
