Elmer F. Grossklaus, age 96, of Eau Claire, died July 26, 2014, at Oakwood Villa, Altoona, WI. Elmer was born November 18, 1917, in Menomonie, WI, the son of Harry and Dela (Baker) Grossklaus. Elmer graduated from Menomonie High School and entered the military on November 4, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army for 47 months, of which 24 months were spent in Iran. Elmer was honorably discharged on October 3, 1945. He married Catherine Ott on January 24, 1942. Catherine preceded him in death in 1985. Elmer worked for Keebler Biscuit Co. as a sales representative for 28 years, retiring in 1980. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting. Elmer was an expert cribbage player who "skunked many a player." Elmer is survived by his four sons, Jon (Camilla) Grossklaus of Mesa, AZ, James (Evelyn) Grossklaus of Eau Claire, Thomas (Jane) Grossklaus of Wausau, WI, and Timothy (Shannon) Grossklaus of Wisconsin Rapids, WI; eight grandchildren, Liberty Aaron, David Grossklaus, Beth Welch, Megan Grossklaus, Katie Van Valen, Michael Grossklaus, Ann Grossklaus, and Dayln Grossklaus; and nine great-grandchildren. Elmer was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine; parents, Harry & Dela; brothers, Marvin and Harold Grossklaus; and sister, Betty Hagenstone. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, July 31, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home WEST CHAPEL 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. in Eau Claire, with Pastor Scott Miller officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be at St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery in Eau Claire, with Military Honors conducted by American Legion Post #53.
