Elmer A. Price 76, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, December 14, 2004, at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in the town of Stanton, Dunn County on February 13, 1928, the son of Arnold and Elsie (Grutt) Price.\r\nElmer married Elaine B. Johnson at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire on November 4, 1950.\r\nHe served in Germany from 1950 to 1952 with the U.S. Army.\r\nElmer was a lead foreman with Northern States Power working with their Hydro Electric Division on dams and power plants until his retirement in 1988. After his retirement he spent time with his hobbies of carpentry and landscaping.\r\nThroughout his life Elmer liked spending time outdoors, especially fishing in Canada; also in Wisconsin with his brother, Art and nephews. Elmer enjoyed traveling in the United States with his family, Europe with Elaine, and special outings with their grandchildren.\r\nHe was a member of First Lutheran Church and Eau Claire Moose Lodge # 1408.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Elaine; two daughters, Julie (Wayne) Hove of Stanley and Patti (Mike) Gorell of Eau Claire; three granddaughters, Krista Hove of Cottage Grove, WI, Kelly Henry of Eau Claire, and Alissa Hove of Stanley; four brothers, Manville (Myrna) Price of Elk Mound, Willard Price of Menomonie, Arthur (JoAnn) Price of Washburn, IA, Orville (Freda) Price of Sun City, AZ; three sisters, Adeline Hillson of Silverdale, WA, Arlene (Roger) Hones of Colfax, and Charlotte Anderson of Houston, TX; and 21 dear nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Arnold Price.\r\nElmer was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.\r\nFuneral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2004, at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Duane C. Pederson officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery in the town of Washington where VFW Post #305 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
