Eric William Olson, 63, of Eau Claire, died Tuesday, May 23, 2017, surrounded by his family at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire. He was born in South St. Paul, MN, on June 16, 1953, a son of Roland and Mildred (Zocher) Olson. Eric graduated from South St. Paul High School in 1971. He then attended the Minnesota School of Business. He worked as a court reporter in Montana, Minnesota, and finally, in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, for 28 years, with the Honorable Roderick Cameron. Eric married Maridee Roghair in 1989. They were blessed with one child, their daughter, Julia. Eric was a long-time Wisconsin resident, but he remained a diehard Minnesota sports fan. He was particularly devoted to the Twins and Vikings and was thrilled when his daughter chose to attend the University of Minnesota and become a Gopher. He was a wrestler in high school, enjoyed golfing whenever he could, and played Fantasy Football. Classic rock music was another passion. Among his favorites were the Beatles, The Who, Pink Floyd and Jimi Hendrix. He attended many concerts over the years with his friends. Eric's greatest joy in life was his family and dear friends. He grew up in a close-knit, loving family. Family gatherings and watching sports with his friends were the very best of times. He loved his family and cared deeply for all of his friends and coworkers. Eric is survived by his wife, Maridee; daughter, Julia; mother, Mildred Olson; siblings, Nancy (Art) Ledesma, Kris (Michele) Olson, and Becky (John) Ludwig; brothers-in-law, Ron Roghair, Bruce Roghair and Doug (Carla) Roghair; sisters-in-law, Bev (Rick) Beckstrom and Carol (Bill Lee) Roghair; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Roland Olson; brother, Jon Olson; and sister-in-law, Linda Olson. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to South St. Paul Schools Custodial Maintenance-Technology Golf Tournament c/o 104 5th Ave. S. South St. Paul, MN 55075. The family wishes to thank Mayo Clinic-Rochester Transplant Center Care Team and Dr. John Poterucha; Mayo Clinic-Eau Claire Interventional Radiology Care Team; and the faithful Chippewa County Lunch-Date Ladies. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017, at the WEST CHAPEL location of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N.
