Ernest A. Mattson, 86, of Eau Claire, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, relative and friend died Friday, September 19, 2008, at Luther Hospital. He was born in Ashland, Wisconsin, on September 11, 1922. Ernest served in the U.S. Air Force during World War II, and worked at Uniroyal in Eau Claire his entire career, retiring in 1980. He married Rosemary Soley in 1946, and they had celebrated 56 years of marriage when Rosemary died in 2002. Ernest is survived by his daughter, Cheri Kelley, and her husband, Dan of Blaine, MN; three grandchildren: Ann (Kevin) Giardino of Lander, WY, Tim Kelley of Blaine, and Patrick (Kristen) Kelley of Hudson; two great grandchildren, Niki and Kate Kelley; and many relatives and friends. He lived his life with dignity, integrity, constancy and devotion to his family. His legacy will live on. He will be treasured always. Graveside services will be held at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, September 24, 2008, with Father Edmund Klimek officiating. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services is serving his family.\r\n
