Obituary

Ernest "Ernie" L. McCarn, 72, of Eau Claire died Wednesday, September 18, 2002 at Luther Hospital. He was born in Ladysmith on November 4, 1929, the son of Dr. Lynn and Cordelia (O'Connor) McCarn. Ernie graduated from Ladysmith High School with the class of 1947.\r\nHe joined the U.S. Army in 1949 where he served in the Military Police Corp. in the Fifth Army at Fort Bragg, NC. He retired from Pope and Talbot Paper Mill in 1991.\r\nErnie married Eleanore Jaskowiak on August 6, 1955 in Bruce. They have lived in Arizona, Ladysmith and Eau Claire since1961.\r\nErnie enjoyed spending time with his loving family, fishing, watching the Green Bay Packers and wintering in Arizona. He was very active in the American Red Cross and the Eau Claire Horseshoe Club.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Eleanore "Elly" of 47 years; son, Michael (Lori Binkley) of Glenwood City; two daughters, Marilee Gardow of Eau Claire and Karen (Richard) Hirsh of Tappan, NY; five grandchildren, Kristal and Rebecca Gardow, Alexander and Emily Nicholson, and Rachael Hirsch; a great-grandson, Darius Nayes; a sister Evelyn Benedict of Soldiers Grove, WI; and many nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceeded in death by his parents and a brother Hartzel.\r\nMemorial Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 21, 2002 at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd with Pastor John E. Hosmann officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church.
