Ervin "Erv" E. Dodge, 70, of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at Oakwood Villa in Altoona, WI. Erv was born in Eau Claire, WI, on October 29, 1948 to Ervin W. and Elaine (Sielaff) Dodge. He graduated from Eau Claire Memorial High School in 1966 and then from CVTC, Tool and Die. On November 9, 1968 he married Terry Bellesbach at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Eau Claire. They divorced in 1987 and remained close friends. In his younger years, Erv enjoyed working summers on the Squires Farm. He moved to Hudson after graduating from CVTC and worked for Univac in Minneapolis, MN, as a machinist. After returning to Eau Claire, Erv purchased Dodge Excavating from his father and was owner/operator until 1986, when he was diagnosed with cancer. After some years of retirement, he drove for Indianhead and worked as a Walmart greeter. Erv enjoyed many a fishing trips to Canada. Through the years, Erv coached T-ball, was a volunteer fireman for the Town of Union, and his favorite passion was playing Santa for ten years. Erv is survived by his daughter, Christi Brost of Germantown, WI; son, Jason (Carrie) Dodge of Eau Claire; three grandchildren, Michael (Michelle) Brost, Kelsey Brost and Mattison Dodge; brothers, Norman (Linda) Dodge of Strum, WI, and Carl (Ruth) Madsen of Milwaukee area; sisters, Nancy Schuch of Eau Claire and Mary (Ken) Johnston of Berthoud, CO; the ones that Erv considered as brothers and sisters, Cheryl (Doug) Ullom, Rod (Sandy) Squires and Duane Squires; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Thomas, Steve, and Richard Dodge; sister, Beverly Champion; and close friends, Earl and Lois Squires. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in care of the family to: 1923 Deepwood Court, Eau Claire, WI 54703. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., with a Prayer Service at 7:45 p.m., on Friday, February 8, 2019 at the WEST CHAPEL location of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave. in Eau Claire. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Brunswick Cemetery.
