Esther Krigsvold

On June 24, 2026 Esther Kay Krigsvold passed away just 4 days before her 61st wedding anniversary. Esther was born on October 6, 1944 in Shannon County, South Dakota on her family farm, the 5th child of Emmanuel & Katherine Yekel. After graduating from Bennett County High School Esther went on to complete Cosmetology school in Lincoln, Nebraska which is where she met the love of her life Ralph who was stationed there while in the Air Force where he asked her to marry him. Ralph came back to his home state of Wisconsin with Esther where they joined in marriage at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, WI on June 28, 1965. From there they went on to spend several years together making many memories, camping, fishing trips and more. They built their life and home together in Elk Mound, WI. Their family expanded on March 7, 1986 when they welcomed their only child, a daughter, Melissa. Esther also gained a son on May 23, 2008 when Melissa married Jeremy. Esther was a home maker most of her life who enjoyed gardening, making crafts, hand embroidery, canning foods, cooking, especially baking and her famous fish fries. Spending time with her family meant the world to her, and she cherished and adored her two grandchildren and loved them dearly. But above all these things her faith and love in her Lord and Savior meant the most to her. Survivors include her husband Ralph; daughter, Melissa and husband, Jeremy. Two grandchildren Elizabeth (Izzy) and Jake. Many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and all her brothers and sisters.

A funeral service for Esther will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at 11:00 AM with Pastor Joel Naumann officiating at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 3307 State St., Eau Claire, WI. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery in Eau Claire.
