ESTHER M. SMITH, 83, of 938 Walnut St., died Sunday, December 15, 1996 at her home. She was born February 26, 1913 in the Town of Pleasant Valley, Wisconsin to George and Anna(Morud)Erickson. Esther graduated in 1932 from Eau Claire Senior High School. She married William W. Smith in the Town of Pleasant Valley on November 28, 1935. She worked 19 years at Huebsch Laundry until her retirement in 1976. As an active member of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, she was an officer in the Ladies Aid and a Sunday School Teacher. Esther enjoyed working in her flower gardens and playing scrabble with her grandchildren.\r\nSurvivors include a son, John E. (Sandra) of Cottonwood,MN; three daughters, Dorothy(Douglas)Lehman and Carol(Robert)Krause both of Rhinelander and Mary(Ronald)Younge of Mankato,MN; a step-son Robert W.(Kathleen) of Chippewa Falls; 27 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; a brother, George(Helen)Erickson Jr, of Eau Claire; many nieces and nephews\r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband; three brothers, Clarence, Jesse and Joseph; two sisters, Alice and Mildred.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Frederick W. Theiste officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday (Today) at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
