E.T. Vermont Sandvig, 85, of 911 Second Ave. died Friday November 16, 2001 at Luther Hospital. He was born on July 24, 1916 to Engebret and Thea (Lund) Sandvig in Meridean, Wisconsin. He graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1936. \r\nVermont married Ethel M. Sorenson at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eau Claire on August 30, 1941.\r\nVermont worked 37 years at Pacific Gamble Robinson Co., retiring as office manger in 1978. \r\nHe was confirmed June 8, 1930 in the first confirmation class of Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he was a longtime member. He expressed his love for the Lord and his church through his active participation . He enjoyed sharing his love for trout fishing and pheasant hunting with his family. His hobbies included creating gifts for his family and friends with his woodworking. \r\nSurvivors include his wife, Ethel; two sons, Ronald (Darra) of Chippewa Falls and David (Helen) of Eau Claire; daughter, Judith (Larry) Stafsholt of Chetek: ten grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and one on the way; three brothers-in-law, Howard Britten and Duane (June) Sorenson both of Kenosha, and Harold (Shirley) Sorenson of Wausau; two sisters-in-law, Helen Sandvig of Eau Claire and Jane Stein of Middleton; and many nieces and nephews. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Vernon Sandvig; and three sisters, Violet Bradshaw-Biles, Vivian Garnett and Veryl Britten.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, November 19, 2001 at Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Frederick W. Theiste officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2001 at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Monday at the church.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, family request memorials be directed to Concordia Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3715 London Road, Eau Claire, WI 54701
