Ethel Marion Sandvig, age 97, of Eau Claire, died peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2015, at Our House Senior Living in Chippewa Falls, WI. Ethel was born in the town of Tainter, WI, on April 18, 1918, to George and Emily (Lowery) Sorenson. Ethel graduated from Eau Claire High School with the class of 1936. She married E.T. Vermont Sandvig on August 30, 1941, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Before starting her family, Ethel worked numerous jobs throughout the Eau Claire downtown area. She and Vermont had a very strong faith and were very active with Concordia Lutheran Church, teaching Sunday school, secretarial work, and helped with many other volunteer activities at the church. She will be greatly missed by many loving family and friends. Ethel is survived by her two sons, Ronald of Chippewa Falls and David (Helen) of Eau Claire; daughter, Judith (Larry) Stafsholt of Chetek; ten grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; great-great-grandson, Jayden; brother, Duane Sorenson of Kenosha; sister, Jane Stein of Middleton; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, E. T. Vermont; her parents; brothers, Harold (Shirley) Sorenson and Herbert (Margaret) Sorenson; daughter-in-law, Darra "Sis" Sandvig; brother-in-law, Vernon (Helen) Sandvig; and three sisters-in-law, Violet Bradshaw-Biles, Vivian Garnett and Veryl Britten. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 23, 2015, at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Chapel, 814 First Avenue, Eau Claire WI, 54703. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, April 24, 2015, at Concordia Lutheran Church, 3715 London Rd., Eau Claire, WI 54701, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at church. Pastor Aaron Hamilton will be officiating. Interment will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire. The family would like to thank the staff at Our House Assisted Living in Chippewa Falls, Ann and Kim with ResCare in Eau Claire, as well as Janna and Rachel with Mayo Palliative Care, for all their loving and passionate care given to Ethel.
