Eugene E. "Bugs" Beguhn, 82, of Eau Claire died Thursday, June 19, 2008, at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire. He was born in Eau Claire on November 11, 1925, a son of Emil and Elsa (Birkholz) Beguhn. Eugene graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1943.\r\nHe entered the U.S. Navy on January 26, 1944, serving in the Pacific Theatre during World War II, and was honorably discharged on April 28, 1946.\r\nEugene worked 40 years for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, retiring as a Survey and Construction Engineer Technician in 1988.\r\nHe was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, the Eau Claire YMCA, VFW Post #305, and American Legion Post #53.\r\nThroughout the years, Eugene played numerous sports locally and was an avid sports fan. \r\nEugene is survived by his sister-in-law, Abigail Beguhn of Eau Claire; nephew, Jim (Peggy) Ehrhard of Eau Claire four nieces, Jane (Tim) Dresel and Emily (Ed) Severson both of Eau Claire, Carolyn Lopez of Porterville,OH, and Julie (Mark) Long of Missoula, MT; great nieces and nephews; and great-great niece and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Armond Beguhn; and his sister, Arlys Ehrhard.\r\nMemorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, June 23, 2008, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Carlton Kangas officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Town of Washington where American Legion Post #53 will conduct military graveside honors. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, Eau Claire and one hour prior to services Monday at the church.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 601 Fall St. Eau Claire, WI 54703 or the Eau Claire YMCA, 700 Graham Ave, Eau Claire, WI 54701.\r\n
