Evelyn M. Hartung, 88, of Eau Claire, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Sacred Heart Hospital.\r\nShe was born in Dumont, MN on November 26, 1919, a daughter of Benjamin and Teresa (Traynor) Sagstetter. \r\nEvelyn married Carl A. Hartung on June 17, 1941, in Farm Hill, WI. They raised their family on a dairy farm near Elmwood for 25 years. Evelyn made her home in Eau Claire with her family in 1963.\r\nShe worked at American National Bank as a bookkeeper and retired after 19 years. For the last 20 years Evelyn volunteered at Sacred Heart Hospital.\r\nEvelyn was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Parish and attended daily Mass at Sacred Heart Hospital Chapel. \r\nAmong her many hobbies were gardening, sewing, cooking, playing cards, and crafts. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.\r\nEvelyn is survived by her daughter, Patricia (John) Wetzel of Chippewa Falls; two sons, Bernard (Rosanne) Hartung of Eau Claire, and Kenneth (Lisa) Hartung of Everett, PA; 15 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ambrose Sagstetter of Elmwood; two sisters, Beatrice (Paul) Axelson of Menomonie, and Berneice (Elmer) Marte of St. Paul, MN; and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents, Benjamin and Teresa; her son, Dennis; daughter-in-law, MaryAnn; and a sister, Florence Freund. \r\nMass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 5, 2008, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Eugene A. Klink celebrating Mass. Burial will be in Saint Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, July 4th at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, Eau Claire and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. There will be a 3 p.m. public prayer service led by Monsignor Edmund Klimek Friday at the funeral home.\r\nHer gentle kind spirit will be greatly missed by her family and friends.\r\n \r\n
