Evelyn Chappell (Nee Wold), 97, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin passed away at Mayo Clinic Health System – Eau Claire on April 11, 2024 surrounded by family. Evelyn was born on January 28, 1927, daughter of Oliver and Lucille Wold. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1945. During her senior year, Evelyn met her future husband Richard "Dick" Chappell at the roller-skating rink. They were married on August 27, 1949. Evelyn and Dick had two children; son, Richard "Rick" (Cindy) Chappell and daughter, Susan "Sue" Hutchinson. In addition to her children she is survived by her grandchildren, Tammy (James) Hoppe, Stacey Chappell, Derek (Pam) Chappell and Dustin Chappell. She is further survived by great grandchildren, Jacob "Jake" Hutchinson, Tyler Doorn, Haleigh Doorn, Sona Chappell, Vivin Chappell and great great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Hutchinson and Opal Evelyn Hutchinson. She is also survived by siblings, Daryl (Judy) Wold and Lenore Erickson as well as several nieces and nephews and Pam Taylor who was like a daughter to her.

Evelyn was proud of her first job picking strawberries on Vine St. near what is now Clairemont Ave. As a teenager she worked at the A&W Rootbeer stand. Later she worked at Drummond Packing Co. for seven years. Following the birth of her children, she was a homemaker and accomplished seamstress.

She was preceded in death by husband, Dick; her parents; in laws, Edward Chappell and Esther Chappell Larson; brother, Allen (Bubby) Wold; brother-in-law, Ron Erickson and sister-in-law, Doris Wold.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, April 18, 2024 with Rev. David J. Irgens officiating at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral and Cremation Services, 814 1st Avenue, Eau Claire. A visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the funeral home. Followed by Interment at Forest Hill Cemetery.
