EVERETT C. HALVERSON, 69, of 751 Knight St., Eau Claire, died Monday, May 17, 1999 at his home after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on June 4, 1929 in Eau Claire to Clarence and Esther (Fjelstad) Halverson. Everett graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1948. He entered the U.S. Army in 1948, serving in Germany during the Korean War, until his honorable discharge in 1952. Everett married Mavis I. Ganong in Eau Claire on July 21, 1949. He worked at Sterling Pulp and Paper Mill, and National Presto Industries. He then worked eleven years in housekeeping at Luther Hospital until his retirement in 1993. Everett enjoyed bird watching at his home and solving his word-search puzzles.\r\nHe was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, VFW Post #7232 and American Legion Post #53.\r\nSurvivors include his wife, Mavis; a daughter, Debra ( John ) Noel of Eau Claire; two sons, Steven (Melissa) of Hudson and Michael of Eau Claire; seven grandchildren, Jessica Halverson, Daniel Noel, Kayla Noel, Brian Noel, Chelsie Halverson, Jennifer Stillman, and Jason Stillman. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Don in 1991; and a sister, Phyllis Halverson in 1997.\r\nEverett knew how to get a smile out of people with his laugh and keen sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church with Pastor Deanna Wildermuth officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery where American Legion Post #53 will conduct military graveside rites. Friends may call 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Friday at the church. \r\n
