Obituary

Fern Eleanor (Myhers) Johnson, 90, of Eau Claire, died Wednesday, October 17, 2007, at Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire.\r\nShe was born March 27, 1917, to Thomas O. and Lena M. (Nelson) Myhers in Rice Lake, WI. Fern graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1934. She attended both the Duluth and Eau Claire Business Schools. On August 30, 1940, Fern married Arthur Johnson in Decorah, Iowa.\r\nShe worked at a number of businesses and raised her children. Fern then became a secretary at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire working there for 17 years, retiring in 1982.\r\nShe was a member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, where she was active on the Church Library Committee, and belonged to a craft group. She also golfed with the AARP Golf League and the Tuesday Morning Golf League.\r\nSurvivors include her two sons, Brian (Catherine) Johnson of Fond du Lac and Neil (Beth) Johnson of Eau Claire; two daughters, Joan Lynn Clark of Clovis, CA, and Phyllis (Tommy) Pollard, of Memphis, TN; four grandchildren, Nick and Ted Gharrity-Johnson, of Eau Claire, Michael (Christy) Carmack of Clovis, CA, and Clayton Pollard, of Memphis, TN; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur in 2001; a brother, Thomas Myhers; and a sister, Phyllis Wieber.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 20, 2007, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Carlton Kangas officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Family and friends may call one hour prior to the time of services at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral&Cremation Services is serving her family.
