Flavius L. Myers, 87, of Eau Claire died Sunday, September 3, 2006, at Syverson Lutheran Home. He was born in Eau Claire on July 16, 1919, the son of Frederick and Anna (Schneck) Myers.\r\nFlavius married Phyllis E. Thalacker on August 7, 1940, at his parent's home in Eau Claire.\r\nHe was drafted into the U.S. Army during World War II in July, 1941, and served with the 100th Division, 374th Field Artillery until his honorable discharge. \r\nFlavius worked for 27 years at White Machine Works, seven years at National Presto Industries, three years at Packerland, and then five years as a boiler man at Luther Hospital until his retirement in 1984.\r\nHe was a member of American Legion Post # 53, and a lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #305.\r\nFlavius was an avid gambler enjoying his many trips to Black River Falls and Hayward whenever he could get a ride.\r\nFlavius is survived by his wife, Phyllis; a daughter, Debra (Larry) Berg of Mazomanie; four sons, Gary (Dixie) of Downsville, David (Faye) and Steven (Doreen) both of Eau Claire, and Gordon (Kim) of Elk Mound; 11 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Brian Myers; a granddaughter, Carol Myers Spears; a daughter-in-law, Cathy Myers ; and three sisters, Lucille Rumphol, Charlotte Voss, and Mildred Kerskey.\r\nFuneral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 7, 2006, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, with Pastor Debra Boynton officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, in the town of Washington, where VFW Post #305 will conduct military graveside honors. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services on Thursday.\r\n
