Florence E. Van, 76, of Eau Claire died Thursday, January 3, 2007, at Clairemont Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born in the town of Canton, Wisconsin in Buffalo County, on June 19, 1930, the daughter of Duncan and Elizabeth (Bates) Huey. She grew up on her family farm near Mondovi.\r\nFlorence married Robert W. Van in Osage, Iowa on October 16, 1953.\r\nShe worked for sixteen years in the laundry at Luther Hospital while she also was a cook at Bill's Hideaway until her retirement in 1988. She then provided childcare at her home and later had her own cleaning service and was a home healthcare provider.\r\nFlorence is survived by her son, Allan Van of Eau Claire; two daughters, Mary Stewart of Montclair, CA, and Sherri (Jeff) Martinek of Chippewa Falls; eight grandchildren, Jamie Gadson April Dixon, Christopher and Mandy Van, Robert, Rodney and Lacey Craker, and Shauna Bonnin; seven great grandchildren; her brother, William (Shirley) Huey of Spring Valley; nieces and nephews; and her very special friend and companion of nine years, Ron Paape of Eau Claire.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert; infant daughter, Terry Van; and a brother, Thomas Huey.\r\nFlorence always looked forward to her fishing outings with Ron and her family.\r\nFuneral services will be at held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2007, at Hope Lutheran Church, Eau Claire with Pastor Omar Nelson officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church.\r\n
