Florence M. (Toy) Weichert, 84, of Eau Claire passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire. Florence was born on May 31, 1931 in Chippewa Falls, the daughter of Joseph and Marie (Pitts) Johnson. Florence married Alfred "Budd" M. Weichert on December 29, 1949, in Eau Claire. Florence was very proud that she celebrated more than 50 years of marriage with Budd. During her life she worked at Peter's Meats, Prange's, and Younkers. She also enjoyed several years of being Mrs. Santa Claus at London Square Mall. In her free time, Florence enjoyed playing cards at the Senior Center, bingo at the American Legion, and singing in the church choir. She was famous for her pickles that she brought to all events. She was an avid volunteer at Dove Healthcare-West, St. James the Greater Church, and with the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a life time member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 53 for 64 years and was a Charter Member of the PCCW of St. James the Greater. Florence is survived by her two sons, Michael (Bonnie), Robert (Cathy) both of Eau Claire; five daughters, Debbie Johnson of Aurora, CO, Peggy Flaskrud, Nancy (David) Buchholz, Pam Weichert (Tim) all of Eau Claire, Amy (Scott) Jones of Chippewa Falls; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Joyce Smith, Marcy Hanson, Joanne (Paul) Sorenson, Judy Burns (Mark), and Linda (Steve) DesForge; her brother, Odin Johnson; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marie; her husband, Alfred in 2005; infant daughter, Julie; great grandson, Matthew Johnson; brother, Richard Johnson; sisters, Yvonne Bradford and Shirley Millwood; and sons-in-law, Jerry Flaskrud and Jim Hesselgrave. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, 2502 11th St., Eau Claire, with Father Tom Krieg officiating. Entombment will be in Resurrection Chapel Mausoleum, Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. at the WEST CHAPEL of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 North Clairemont Ave, Eau Claire, with a memorial service beginning at 6:30 p.m. conducted by the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 53 followed by a public prayer vigil. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the Mass on Saturday at the church.
