FLORIS MARY HAYS, 79, of 1209 Emery St. died Sunday, April 29, 2001 at her home. She was born on September 26, 1921 in Eau Claire, the daughter of William and Bessie (Wright) Swift. She graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1939 and then attended Eau Claire Teachers College. She taught at Hemlock and Elbow rural schools and Lowes Creek Elementary in Eau Claire.\r\nFloris married Minor Hays in Eau Claire on June 19, 1942. Minor died in 1966.\r\nShe was in partnership with her son, Bob with their business, Hays Brothers Construction Inc. and served as its secretary and treasurer for almost 40 years. \r\nFloris served on the board of Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery for 30 years. She was a member and past officer of the WI Regional Lily Society, Ancestral Harvest Antique Club, Eau Claire Zanta Assoc., Eau Claire Women's Homemakers Assoc., Ostomy Assoc., Ladies Auxiliary to V.F.W. Post #305, Tops Club 36 and the Eau Claire School Board.\r\nShe will be very much missed at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with over 30 years of service including Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Women of Our Redeemer, Adult Bible Class teacher, Sunday School teacher and the Board of Elders. It was truly fitting that she left this world on Sunday morning to go to church in her final home.\r\nShe loved her birthday club, card club, her wonderful neighbors and friends. She will be dearly missed by all the organizations she gave so willingly to and most of all by her family.\r\nSurvivors include her son, Robert Hays and daughter, Rosemary (Jim) Wright both of Eau Claire; a son-in-law, Richard Henneman of Chippewa Falls; four grandchildren, Angie (Troy Braaten) Heuer of Eau Claire, and Jeff (Sheri) Henneman, Craig Henneman and Jacqueline Hays, all of Chippewa Falls; seven great grandchildren; four brothers-in-law, Macie (Arvilla) Hays and Stan (Donna) Hays both of Eau Claire, Vilas (Shirley) Hays and Milo "Vernie" Hays both of Altoona; many nieces and nephews.\r\nFloris was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lorelei Henneman and her parents.\r\nFuneral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday.May 2, 2001 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Joel A. Hoelter officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Gardens Cemetery in the town of Washington. Friends and relatives may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
