Floyd "Smoky" Huskelhus, 86, of Eau Claire died Wednesday, November 4, 2009, at his daughter's home in Eau Claire.\r\nHe was born in Osseo on February 16, 1923, the son of Peter and Dagna (Olson) Huskelhus.\r\nFloyd served in the U.S. Army 14th Armored Division during World War II until his honorable discharge on March 19, 1946.\r\nFloyd was a crane operator for American Materials for over 38 years. He was an avid trout fisherman, hunter, gardener, and he also enjoyed reading.\r\nHe was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.\r\nFloyd was a lifetime member of the U.S. Army 14th Armored Division Association,lifetime member of American Legion Post #37 in Elk Mound, lifetime member of V.F.W. Post #305 Eau Claire, and International Union of Operating Engineers Local 139. Floyd was also active at the L.E. Phillips Senior Center.\r\nFloyd is survived by his three daughters, Peggy (Ralph) Ottum of Unity, Debra (Michael) Choate of Eau Claire, Kathy (David) Gorton of Eau Claire; his son, Gary Huskelhus of Loyal; seven grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren; and by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Myrtle Douglas and Alice Douglas; and two brothers, Joseph and Palmer Huskelhus.\r\nMemorial services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 10, 2009, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Kurt M. Jacobson officiating. Military Honors conducted by V.F.W. Post #305 will immediately follow the service at church.
