Obituary

Floyd O. Krause, 83, Eau Claire, died Monday, March 25, 1996, at the Center of Care.Professor Krause was born September 18, 1912 to Alfred and Olga (Nordgard) Krausein Maiden Rock. He was educated at Ellsworth High School, River Falls State College and the University of Iowa. Floyd married Marie Pauline Morton November 29, 1935 in Red Wing, MN. As a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire, from 1942 to 1978, and as chairman of the Department of Chemistry from 1953 to 1978, Floyd was instrumental in the development of the program at the University. He was particularly proud of the fine staff and facilities that developed at the school during his tenure and under his hand. His dedication to excellence in education extended into his involvement in the athletic program of the University through his insistence that scholarship remain a part of student athletic eligibility. He served as an assistant football coach and as a member and chairman of the athletic committee at UWEC.\r\nFloyd was a member of E.C. Lodge # 112 F&AM, and with his wife Marie, was a member of the Christ Church Cathedral from the time of their residency in Eau Claire.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his wife Marie, and a sister Joyce.\r\nSurvivors include his daughters, Roxanne (Peter) Momsen, New Berlin, Mary (John) Gehrke of Burnsville,MN; his sons, William F.(Cynthia), New Hartford, NY, and Frederick R. of Eau Claire; his brothers, Glenn ( Jean) Krause of Rock Elm and Kenneth (Charlotte) Krause of Ellsworth. He loved visiting with and following the lives of his nine grandchildren: Robert, Charles, and John Meyer, Steven and Karen Gehrke, Jessica, Sara, Kathryn, and William Krause; and his two great-granddaughters, Lisa and Dallas Meyer. Above all else, Floyd enjoyed smoking a Harvester Perfecto to keep the gnats and mosquitoes away while he waded the streams of Wisconsin, which he knew so well, fly fishing and contemplatingFloyd's family would like to thank the staff of the Center of Care, and Dr. Lazo, for their attentive care during the last two years.Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Friday at Christ Church Cathedral with the Very Rev.H. Scott Kirby officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.Friends may call 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home.\r\nIn lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Floyd and Marie Krause Scholarship Fund or to the General Educational Fund of the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire.
