Obituary

Frances L. Boylan, 96, of Eau Claire, died Friday, April 27, 2018, after a short battle with cancer at Dove Healthcare – West, Eau Claire. Frances was born October 21, 1921, in Hayward, to John and Lena (Weier) Boylan. She attended the Boylan School in grades 1-8 and graduated from Hayward High School in 1939. After high school, she and her sister, Eleanor (Susie) came to Eau Claire where she attended the Eau Claire Vocational School. She started working at Kohlhepps Hardware as the office manager in May of 1942 until October of 1978 when Kohlhepps closed and the hardware went to Direct Oil where she worked from October of 1978 until her retirement in June of 1997. Fran not only did the office work but knew about every nut or bolt involved in the hardware business. She was an avid Packer Backer and dressed and decorated her home in the Packer spirit during the football season. She loved to play 500, cribbage, and Hand and Foot with her many good friends. She also enjoyed the last nine years at Good Shepherd Apartments with her many friends there. Fran was a devout Catholic as a member of St. Patrick's Parish and active in the events of the parish. Fran was loved by everyone. Fran is survived by her niece, Judy (Glenn) St. Arnault; nephew, Bob (Connie) Hartz; great nieces, Cindy (Chip) Eckes, Alicia (Mike) Burgess, and Carrie (Ben) Truby; great nephews, Greg St. Arnault and James (Lisa) Hartz; great-great nephews, Mitchell St. Arnault, Evan Eckes, and Emmett Truby; great-great nieces, Loretta St. Arnault and Elizabeth Eckes. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Vincent, Bernard and Edward; three sisters, Verna, Bertha, Eleanor (Susie); brother-in-law, Lyth Hartz; and two sisters-in-law, Helen and Julia. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Sacred Heart Hospital and the awesome care she received at Dove Healthcare – West in the Reflections Unit. Also, a special thank you to the hospice staff and volunteer, Terri, and to the two Lisa's in the Reflection unit along with the other staff. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Father George Thayilkuzhithottu officiating. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. and continue until the time of the Mass at the church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Stone Lake, WI.
