Frances M. Woletz, 87, of Eau Claire passed away peacefully with her family by her side at Sacred Heart Hospital on Tuesday, April 6, 2010. Fran was born November 18, 1922, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Frank and Christine (Knapp) Mozina. She attended Milwaukee Public Schools and graduated from South Division High School. She attended Milwaukee Teacher's College (now UW Milwaukee.) Fran spent two years of study as a Novitiate in the Cenacle Religious Order in Ronkonkoma, Long Island, N.Y. She was employed for ten years with Wisconsin Telephone Company as Chief Service Observer covering the State of Wisconsin. Fran married Edward B. Woletz on September 13, 1952, in Milwaukee. Together they had four children. Fran was a devoted wife and Mother. She was an outstanding cook – she never met a recipe she didn't like. She loved to entertain family and friends; many people will remember the memories made around her dinner table. Fran had a lifetime love of music and song. She was involved in many vocal and musical events in Milwaukee from 1930 to 1950. She was a soloist on call at Gesu Church (Marquette Campus) in Milwaukee. She was also a member of the St. Patrick's Church choir for 45 years. More recently she sang at the LE Phillips Senior Center and also was a member of the "Young at Heart" singing group that sang at nursing and assisted living homes. Fran had a strong faith in God that not only sustained her throughout her lifetime but also gave her the gift to provide wise counsel to others in need of spiritual guidance. Fran is survived by husband, Edward; four children, Thomas (Gail Beaver) Woletz of Eau Claire, Paul (Joyce) Woletz, of Medford, WI; Charles (Jean) Woletz of Seattle, WA, and Beth (Gerry) Gunderson of St. Louis Park, MN; eleven grandchildren, Michael, Suzanne, Samantha (fiancé John Kellner), Katie, Kelli, Kim, Ben, Joey, Sam, Sarah and Rachel; one great grandchild, Audianne; her brother, Alfred (Elaine) Mozina of St. Francis, WI; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Mary Mozina, Christine Weisinger and Sr. Elizabeth Mozina R.C.; brother Francis Mozina; brother in-law, Vince Weisinger; and great grandchildren Thomas and Michael Kellner. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Noon on Saturday, April 10, 2010, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 322 Fulton St., Eau Claire with Father William A. Dhein and Monsignor Edmund Klimek officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to Noon Saturday at the church.
