Frank William Pierce, 85, of Eau Claire, died of a heart attack at Sacred Heart Hospital, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, on Friday, March 16, 2018. Frank was born on March 24, 1932, at home in Washington Township, Eau Claire County, Wisconsin, the son of Marshall and Frances (Hobbs) Pierce. Frank grew up on the family farm in Washington Township where he lived until 1983, when he moved with his wife and family to Eau Claire. A man of skill and various aptitudes, Frank was alternately a farmer, a milkman and a machinist. Frank retired from Pope & Talbot paper mill in Eau Claire at age 62. He then worked for several years as a driver for Car Quest. Frank heeded the call to duty and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. A proud veteran, he often spoke of his years in service to country. Frank was a decent, honest man; sure in his convictions and always steadfast no matter what test he faced in life. Frank had a ready smile that lit up his whole face. He was cheerful, out-going; and, he loved meeting people. Among Frank's hobbies and interests were: attending flea markets, collecting memorabilia, taking part in Burger King Classic Car Shows, visiting with friends and family, and watching his favorite game shows and wrestling on TV. Most of all, Frank had a deep and abiding love for his large and extended family. Frank had five children with his first wife: Gretchen, Cindy, Shelley, Christy and Mitchell. Frank married Dawn Snyder on May 19, 1978, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. To this union three children were born, Austin, Nathan and Amanda. Frank is survived by his wife, Dawn; children, Gretchen (Lloyd) La Valla, Cindy (Bob) Beaulieu, Shelley (Paul) Tannler, Christy (Bill) Meyer, Mitchell (Michelle) Pierce, Austin, Nathan (Megan), and Amanda. Frank was a proud and happy grandfather to 26 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Frank is also survived by his brother, Jay (Donna) Pierce; and his sister, Anna Mae Stetzer. Frank was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at the WEST CHAPEL location of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn, 1405 N. Clairemont Ave, with Pastor Justin Carter officiating. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. and continue until the time of the service at the funeral home. Refreshments will follow the service. Burial will be at Lake View Cemetery, Eau Claire, Wisconsin, at a later date.
