Frank "Butch" I. Flynn, 65, of Eau Claire, died Monday, September 21, 2009, at his home, under the care of Northwest Homecare Hospice. Butch was born in Eau Claire on September 8, 1944, a son of James and Mildred (Craney) Flynn.\r\nHe graduated from Regis High School with the class of 1962 and continued on to graduate from UW-Eau Claire with a degree in Business Administration.\r\nHe married Linda L. Bailey on November 28, 1964, in Chippewa Falls. They later divorced but remained friends and as a team raised their children. \r\nButch worked for many years in the corporate office at Menards in Eau Claire. During his Menards career he filled many positions. He was also involved in many other ventures during his life including real estate sales, real estate investment, and owning and operating Flynn's Bar and Grill in downtown Eau Claire. \r\nButch was very proud of his family and his Irish Heritage. Throughout the years he took many trips with family and friends, including a trip to Ireland. It was always important to him to show his children the world and to have them experience many things. Whether it was by plane, train, automobile or boat (Satan's Chariot), he saw a lot of the world and knew many great people in many places. Wherever he went there was always a "Hi Butch" resonating through the room.\r\nButch is survived by his special friend, Julie Lentz of Eau Claire, his children, Shannon (Lane) Paolocci of Hudson, Kelly (Gary) Atkinson of Joplin, MO, Shawn (Carrie) Flynn of Eau Claire, Aaron (Melissa) Kaat of Columbus, OH; six grandchildren, Alyssa Paolocci, Aliya Atkinson, Garrett, Lauren, and Brianne Flynn, and Lilly Kaat; a sister, Jane (Don) Fisher of Foley, AL; brother, Patrick (Jill) Flynn of Eau Claire; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. \r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Gerald, Dr. John, and Michael Flynn. \r\nMemorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 25, 2009, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire with Monsignor Edmund Klimek officiating. Inurnment will be in the family columbarium at Lakeview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, and one hour prior to services Friday at the funeral home.\r\nFamily requests memorials be directed to the Saint Bede Monastery Sister's Retirement Fund, 1190 Priory Road, Eau Claire, WI 54701\r\nHis family would like to thank the staff of Northwest Homecare Hospice for their special care.
