Franklin D. Peterson, 76, of Eau Claire died Thursday, October 15, 2009, at his home. He was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on December 8, 1932, a son of Clarence and Clara (High) Peterson.\r\nHe served in the United States Air Force from 1950 until his honorable discharge on December 6, 1954.\r\nFrank married Rita J. Fox in Eau Claire on January 30, 1954. \r\nHe worked 40 years at Pope and Talbot Paper Mill until his retirement.\r\nFrank is survived by his son Mike Peterson; two daughters, Lori Peterson and Karen Peterson all of Eau Claire; two grandsons, Mike Peterson of Eau Claire and Mark (Angie) Peterson of Colfax; six great grandchildren; sister, Lois Hopkins of Chippewa Falls; sister-in-law, Jane (Jim) Deetz of Eleva; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his special caregiver, Barb.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rita in 2002; a brother, George McManus; two sisters, Yvonne Hall and Clarabell Velie; and his brother-in-law, Bruce Hopkins.\r\nFuneral services will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2009, at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home with Monsignor Edmund Klimek officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.\r\nHis family would like to thank Northwest Wisconsin Homecare Hospice for their kindness.\r\n \r\n
