Obituary

FREDERICK "FRED" BRANSHAW, 73, of 815 Starr Ave., died Sunday, February 23, 1997 at Luther Hospital. He was born March 3, 1923 in Eau Claire to Henry and Ella (Haefner) Branshaw. He grew up and attended school in Eau Claire. Fred married Maxine Cole on July 17, 1943 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. He served in the European Theatre with the U.S. Army until his honorable discharge in 1945. He was a fire fighter with the Eau Claire Fire Department from 1947 until his retirement in 1978, and then worked at Hehl-Grohn until 1985. Fred was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, was a life member of the Second Indianhead Division and VFW Post #305. He was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. Survivors include his wife, Maxine; a son, Fred Jr. Of Cannon Falls,MN; four daughters, Kathryn of Mpls,MN, Joanne (Gary) Murray of Inver Grove Heights,MN, Becky (Robert) Henning of Eau Claire and Dede (Bob) Piersa of Eden Prairie,MN; seven grandchildren, Marty, Shannon, Nikki, Jessica, Kelly, Ashley and Jessilyn; two brothers, Gerry (Dodie) of Green Bay and Ron (Harriet) of St. Paul,MN; He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jayne; his parents; a brother, and three sisters. Funeral Services will be at 11 A.M. Thursday at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Joel A. Hoelter officiating. Burial will be in Lutheran Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by VFW Post #305. Friends may call 4 to 8 P.M. Wednesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home and one hour prior to services Thursday at the church. VFW Post #305 will have 6:30 P.M. service Wednesday at the funeral home. You were a loving husband, father and grandfather. Thanks for all of your hugs and kisses! You were loved and will be missed by many. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be directed to Our Redeemer Lutheran Elevator Fund or the donor's choice.
