Frederick T. Cleasby, 85, of Eau Claire, died Friday, November 11, 2016, at Dove Healthcare West in Eau Claire. Fred was born April 30, 1931, in Eau Claire, to Harriet Linse. He attended and graduated from Eau Claire High School with the Class of 1950. Fred married Carolyn Schultz on October 27, 1962, at First Baptist Church in Eau Claire. Together they raised a daughter, Kriss. Fred later married Irene Harschlip. She preceded him in death on February 28, 2016. Fred had served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He had worked at Leader-Telegram for many years and retired in 1992. He loved to play cards, especially cribbage. In his youth, he enjoyed playing pool and piano music. Fred enjoyed life. He was always smiling and had a mischievous twinkle in his eye. Fred had the gift of gab and loved telling stories and jokes. His favorite past time was eating at his favorite places. Fred is survived by his daughter, Kriss (Jason Basham) Cleasby, of Eau Claire; granddaughters, Kyrie Cleasby and Hailee Basham; grandson, Jordan Basham; sisters, Geraldine Biegel, of Augusta, and Rosemary (Buzz) Curtis, of Eau Claire; brother, Robert Minto, of OR; and Fred's first wife and great friend, Carolyn Cleasby, of Eau Claire. He is further survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. Fred was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irene; brothers, Donny Minto, Vern Minto, Roger Minto, and Arthur Minto. Memorial Services will be held at 4 p.m., on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, at WEST CHAPEL location of Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home, 1405 N. Clairemont Avenue in Eau Claire, with Pastor Steven Rutter officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Inurnment will be in Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post 53 at the cemetery.
