Fredrick T. Jensen, 80, of Eau Claire died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire. He was born February 20, 1928, in Eau Claire to James and Mildred (Tronsdal) Jensen. \r\nFred graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1946. He attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN and then the University of Wisconsin-Madison, graduating with a degree in Pharmacy in 1951. He began working as a Registered Pharmacist for Jensen Brothers Drug Stores, the family business started by his father and uncle. He entered the United States Army in 1954 where he served our country in Germany until 1956. \r\nOn May 25, 1957, he married Dorothy L. Robinson in Bismarck, North Dakota. Fred and Dorothy raised three children in Eau Claire. In 1990, Fred retired and sold his business then known as Jensen Plaza Pharmacy.\r\nAfter retirement, Fred and Dorothy made several trips to countries abroad including China, Israel, Russia, Scandinavia, Turkey, Greece, and Canada. They also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States visiting friends and family. In the summer of 2007, Fred and Dorothy hosted their children and families on a trip to the Hawaiian Islands in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. \r\nMany summers were spent enjoying the outdoors at their lake home near Hayward. There Fred served as writer/editor of the Lake Sissabagama Shore Owners Association newsletter. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting and fishing. Fred loved to keep fit by walking, canoeing, bicycling and cross-country skiing. Even in his 60's Fred completed several American Birkebeiner cross-country ski races in northern Wisconsin. He skied as recently as March of this year. \r\nFred was a member of the Thursday Noon Kiwanis Club of Eau Claire, Chippewa Valley Pharmaceutical Association, Wisconsin Pharmaceutical Association, and Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire as well as other organizations.\r\nHe is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three children, Nancy (Robert) Oelsner of Torrance, CA, James (Sharon) Jensen of Lino Lakes, MN, and David Jensen (Judith Barker, friend) of Sunnyvale, CA; four grandchildren, Laura and Rachel Oelsner, and Adam and Sara Jensen; a brother-in-law, Donald Robinson of Reno, NV; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.\r\nMemorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 19, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Eau Claire with Pastor Ned Lenhart officiating. Private family burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Eau Claire prior to services at the church.
