G. ELAINE WING, 79, of 726 Fleming Ave., Eau Claire, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 17, 2001 at Luther Hospital. She was born in Eau Claire on January 21, 1922 to William and Erma (Stein) Weig. \r\nElaine graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School with the class of 1940. She studied costume design in Chicago, IL, and won several awards from McCall's magazine for her design work. During WWII she was an inspector at the ordinance plant in Eau Claire and was a spokeswoman and organizer of the Labor Union in Eau Claire.\r\nElaine married Arnold Theodore Wing on May 6, 1951 at First Lutheran Church. She then gave up her career pursuits to raise her family.\r\nShe was a member of First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire where she served on the Altar Committee for 40 years, and served as president of the Women of the Church for several terms. \r\nElaine loved to ballroom dance with Arnold, and had a passion for gourmet cooking. She and Arnold had many wonderful trips together and Elaine was always looking to add to her angel collection.\r\nShe was a wonderful wife and mother who was greatly treasured by her family. Elaine was a caring friend who will be greatly missed by all who loved and knew her.\r\nSurvivors include her husband, Arnold; son, Robert A. Wing; two daughters, Deborah K. Wing and Cynthia L. (Andrew) Reed all of Eau Claire; a sister-in-law, Carol Weig of Kent, WA; and several nieces and nephews.\r\nShe was preceded in death by her parents and brother, William Arthur Weig.\r\nFuneral Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Duane C. Pederson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and an hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
