Gary J. Meng, 63, Village of Lake Hallie, died Wednesday, August 29, 2007, at his home.\r\nHe was born on September 28, 1943, in Omaha, NE to Pauline (Fagler) and Jacob (Jack) Meng. He grew up in Lincoln, NE and attended Bethany Elementary School and Northeast High School.\r\nFrom high school, Gary entered the U.S. Navy and served for 3 years and 8 months. In 1982, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and retired in 1994 with the rank of a Master Sergeant.\r\nGary married Connie Warner in 1965. He adopted and raised her two daughters. On December 23, 2005, Gary married Sue Kitchen (O'Neill) in Eau Claire, WI.\r\nGary is survived by his loving wife, Sue; two daughters, Jodi (Brad) Medlock of Heber City, UT, and Linda Walker of Las Vegas, NV; four grandchildren, Laura and Austin Medlock, and Shannon and April Walker; a sister, Joan Benker of Lincoln, NE; two step-sons, Paul (Laurie) Kitchen of Thornton, CO, and Aaron (Carman) Kitchen of Chippewa Falls, WI; four step-grandchildren, Jordon, Derek, Reese, and Carson; mother-in-law, Mabel O'Neill; brother and sister in-laws, James O'Neill, Judy (Bill) Goblirsch, Jane O'Neill, Jean (Charlie) Schaefer; nieces, Lynn (Rick) Pomajzl, Chris (Doug) Wismer; great nieces and nephews; many cousins; and other relatives and friends. He is also survived by his special companion dog "Snickers".\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Larry; and his wife, Connie.\r\nGary had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to joke and tease. He had a love of God, country, and family. He will be greatly missed by all.\r\nHe had a passion for stock car racing and was a crew chief for many years in Las Vegas, NV, winning many trophies, awards, and accolades. He also loved "old" cars and recently purchased a 1964 Ford Galaxy 500 that he was restoring. He enjoyed camping, traveling to new places, and had a passion for cooking especially German dishes, and spending time with his wife, Sue who he called the love of his life.\r\nThere wasn't anything that Gary couldn't build or fix. Gary was just an all around gifted, generous, and talented man who was loved by all who knew him.\r\n
