Gary L. Perry age 78, of Eau Claire, passed away Saturday morning at home surrounded by his family after a brief battle with cancer. Gary was born June 22, 1937, in Eau Claire to Lloyd and Lily (Zillmer) Perry. Gary graduated from Eau Claire High School 1955. He married his high school sweetheart Beverly Threw on June 22, 1957, at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Together they had four daughters Pam, Cheri, Cindy, and Peggy. Gary worked for Kerm's Super Foods for several years before going off to open his own store, Gary's Superette on Vine Street on the early 60's. He sold the business in the 70's then took up trucking for several different trucking lines, finally retiring from Yellow Motor Freight in 2000. In Gary's younger years, he loved to play softball. He played for several teams and won lots of tournaments and trophy's. He has been known to come out of retirement to help out a team... Together Gary and Bev rode their motorcycles all over the states. He belonged to several motorcycle clubs, Chippewa Valley Road Riders (CVRR), Gold Wing Touring Association (GWTA), and North Woods Road Riders (NWRR). Gary planned and mapped out many rides for his clubs, he knew every back road there was in the state of WI…he loved planning the rides to making sure that they saw the beautiful county side. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beverly; his daughters, Pam Perry of Eau Claire, Cheri (Dave) McMahon of Marietta, GA, Cindy Perry of Eau Claire and Peggy (Rick) Selz of Cambridge, MN; five grandchildren, Mickey (Megan) McMahon of Kennesaw, GA, Jason (Elizabeth) McMahon of Kennesaw, GA, Nicholas Perry of Eau Claire, Stacey Selz of Marietta, GA, and Thomas Selz of Cambridge, MN; three great children, Lily Filer and Linx McMahon of Kennesaw, GA and Addison McMahon of Kennesaw, GA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Lily Perry; his older brother, Gene (Janice) Perry; and a younger brother, Allen (Diane) Perry. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Noon, on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at Grace Lutheran Church, 202 W. Grand St., Eau Claire with Pastor Dean Simpson officiating. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the church. Burial will be held at a later date in Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Claire.
