GENA S. ANDERSON, 106, of 704 W. MacArthur Ave., died quietly in her sleep, Saturday October 9, 1999, at Orchard Hills in Eau Claire. She was born March 2, 1893 in Eau Claire to Sever and Gina (Dahl) Johnson. Gena married Alfred Anderson on June 3, 1916 in Eau Claire. After Al's death in 1940, she owned and operated Gena's Grocery on Water Street for many years to help raise her two daughters.\r\nShe was a life long member of First Lutheran Church. She spent her adult life caring for all members of her family who needed care. Her home was always open for her grandchildren and friends who felt free to drop in any time of day.\r\nSurvivors include her daughter, Jerry Moehle of Eau Claire; seven grandchildren; Jeri Wilson, Trudy (Dan) Johnson, Toni (Mike) Riley, and Laurie Wangen all of Eau Claire; Paul (Sandra) Moehle of Menomonie; Cindy (Jim) Van Doorn of Tony, WI; and Donald (Chris) Weber of Bruce, WI; nineteen great grandchildren and twenty one great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. \r\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred; daughter, Betty Weber; great grandson, Craig Wilson; son-in-law, Paul Moehle; three sisters; Clara (Phil) Falkner, Marion (Marshall) Stone, and Myrt (Sherm) Olson; five brothers; Oscar, Harry, Guy, Marshall, and Carl Johnson.\r\nFuneral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel at First Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Duane C. Pederson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit with Gena's family one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home is serving the family.
