GENEVA "GENE" M. OLSON, 83, of 508 Long St., died Wednesday, November 5, 1997 at her home. She was born on January 16, 1914, in Dallas, WI, and was raised by her parents, Thomas and Jonetti (Johnson) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed in the Dallas Lutheran Church.\r\nGene attended school in Dallas, and graduated from Barron High School in 1931. She went on to graduate from the Normal School in Rice Lake, receiving her teaching certificate in elementary education. She was employed in the Dietary Department at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire for 42 years, and received special recognition for having not missed any days of work during twelve years of her tenure. Gene retired in 1976. She was a member of Plymouth Congregational United Church of Christ.\r\nShe is survived by a sister, Goldie Gunderman of Chippewa Falls; a brother, Truman (Connie) Olson of Janesville; nieces and nephews, Judy Novak (Dan Paff), Tom (Pat) Gunderman, Jeanne (Smokey) Rykal, Jim Olson, Gary (Debbie) Olson, Dennis Olson, Christine (Rick) Bilgrien, Jeff Olson, Edward Olson; several grand- nieces and grand-nephews; two great-grandnephews; and a special friend Pat Weizenegger of Eau Claire \r\n She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Norman and Omar (and his wife, Dora) Olson, brother-in-law Herb Gunderman, and special friends, Zida Duwe and Louise Meyer.\r\nGene had a great love for animals and was devoted to their well being. She lived life creating a fine example of unselfish living. She will long be remembered for her faithful generosity and dedication to her family and friends.\r\nFuneral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Lenmark-Gomsrud Funeral Home, with Pastor Chris W. Myers of Plymouth United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
