Obituary

George Erpenbach, 90, of Chippewa Falls, and formerly of Eau Claire, died Monday, November 17, 2008, at Chippewa Manor in Chippewa Falls.\r\nHe was born May 28, 1918, in the Town of Wheaton to Henry and Mary (Eckstein) Erpenbach. He graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1936.\r\nGeorge married Arceal (McCombs) Powers on June 24, 1972, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church. She passed away in 1999.\r\nGeorge farmed in the Town of Wheaton his entire life. He was a charter member of St. James the Greater Parish. He also was a member of John F. Kennedy Council #1257 Knights of Columbus, and the Eau Claire Moose Lodge #1408.\r\nGeorge was an avid bowler for the past 48 years. He loved to dance with his wife, Arceal, and also later in the retirement center. George had no children of his own, but he treated and loved his nieces and nephews as his own children. \r\nGeorge is survived by his nephews and nieces, Thomas (Alice) Piercy of Eau Claire, James (Linda) Rudahl of Town of Wheaton, Daniel (Mary) Rudahl of Mosinee, WI, William (Chris) Rudahl of Plover, WI, Susan (Larry) Dahl of Lady Lake, FL, Patrick (Kaye) Rudahl of Eau Claire, Mike (Martha) Erpenbach of Winter Park, FL, and Mary Kuenzli of Winter Springs, FL. He is also survived by many great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.\r\nHe was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Arceal; a brother, Max; two sisters, Alice Piercy and Anne Rudahl.\r\nMass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 22, 2008, at St. James the Greater Catholic Church, with Father John A. Schultz and Father Robert Hoekstra con-celebrating the Mass. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Eau Claire. Family and friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Lenmark-Gomsrud-Linn Funeral Home and one hour prior to services, Saturday, at the church. A public prayer vigil service will be held at 6 p.m., Friday at the Funeral Home.\r\nThe family would like to express their thanks to the caring staff at the Chippewa Manor Retirement Center&Nursing Home for their outstanding care.\r\n
