George L. Nichols, 77, of Chippewa Falls, died Wednesday, February 2, 2011, at his residence. George was born in Eau Claire on February 11, 1933, a son of Clifford and Lucille (Berglund) Nichols.\r\nGeorge was raised and lived in Eau Claire all his life. At the age of four, George lost his dad to TB. His mother later married Bela Caucutt.\r\nGeorge married Ardena Wesenberg on April 27, 1957, at First Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Together, they enjoyed 53 years of a loving marriage. \r\nGeorge served in the United States Marine Corp from 1951 to 1953, during the Korean War in the Recon unit. George worked for NSP for over 30 years retiring in 1991 as a supervisor at the LNG plant. He was a loyal member of the local IBEW union for many years. \r\nGeorge was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 305, serving as Commander in 1969-1970, Chippewa Valley Marine Club, Moose Lodge 246 in Chippewa Falls, and a former member of the Moose Lodge 1408 in Eau Claire. George was always looking forward to going to the Marine Corp Recon Co. annual reunion. George also was a member of the Eau Claire Rod and Gun Club and was an avid outdoorsman. He spent many years hunting the Brule area and enjoyed fishing throughout the area. After retirement, George and Ardena spent time traveling, including many trips to Arizona to visit their daughter, Kim. \r\nGeorge was a wonderful family man, enjoying spending time with his family especially his four grandsons. George will be sadly missed by his family and all who knew him. \r\nGeorge is survived by his wife, Ardena; four daughters, Kim Nichols of Florence, AZ, Karen Tuura of Eau Claire, Kathy Nichols of Sturgeon Bay and Kari Nichols of Eau Claire; four grandsons, Pat and Jake Tuura, Alex Nichols and Dallas Nichols; two brothers, Greg (Amy) Caucutt of Rochester, MN and Keith (Paula) Caucutt of Eau Claire; several nieces and nephews.\r\nGeorge was preceded in death by his parents.\r\nMemorial services will be held at 11a.m on Thursday, February 10, 2011, at Lenmark Gomsrud Linn Funeral Home, 814 First Ave., Eau Claire with Rev. Christine Emerson officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, February 9, 2011, at the funeral home and a half hour prior to the services on Thursday at the funeral home. Inurnment will be at Lutheran Church Cemetery in Eau Claire with military graveside honors conducted by the VFW Post 305.
